“Death comes like the birth of a baby, when it’s time, it’s time – birth, death, sleep healing; each comes in its own time – whatever comes, we can trust that we are in the hands of a God who loves us. So, that time came for Vennie Waylon Hanna, when he flew away with angels on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at 11:03 AM, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence.
Vennie was born on August 20, 1945, in Florence County, son of the late Walter Way Hanna and Thelma Coker Hanna. He was a member of Little Star Free Will Baptist Church.
Vennie was very friendly and outgoing. He enjoyed talking with anyone that he came in contact with. He loved his family and the staff at Acline Place, where he lived.
Surviving are his sister, Patricia Simmons of Hemingway and brother, Billy Hanna of Scranton; nieces, Wendy (Al) Calcutt, Shelly (Bob) Kirby; nephews, Wyatt (Alice) Simmons, Terry (Melissa) Altman, Mark (Beckie) Altman, David (Linda) Altman and John Altman.
Vennie was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Hanna Altman; brothers-in-law, Terrell Altman and Lyman Simmons.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Carolina Funeral Home Chapel, Scranton, with burial to follow at Hanna Cemetery, Lake City.
The family will receive friends 1:00 – 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Carolina Funeral Home.
