Virgil "BoBo" Anthony Matthews

Virgil Anthony "BoBo" Matthews, 70, husband of Brenda D. Matthews, died Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at Lake City Community Hospital.

Mr. Matthews was born on March 4, 1951 in Florence County, son of the late Ray Matthews and Margaret Louise Miles Matthews. He attended Florence Darlington Technical College and was retired from the Postal Claims Dept. of the United States Post Office. Mr. Matthews attended Pinedale Pentecostal Holiness Church, read his bible daily, he loved church, singing and never met a stranger. He was a Mason, had a love for children, was a good father, and loved his family.

Surviving are his wife, Brenda Matthews of Scranton; sons, Anthony Brent Matthews of Johns Island and Benjamin Ray (Melinda) Matthews of Barrineau; grandchildren, Zachary (Christina) Baxley, Cameron Lee Matthews and Daulton Drake Matthews, all of Scranton; great-grandchildren, Sawyer Andrews and Olivia Matthews; sisters, Debra (Lee) Howell of Florence and Pam Miles of Scranton; and brother, Bryan Matthews of Scranton; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 5:00 PM, Friday, May 28, 2021, at Pinedale Pentecostal Holiness Church with burial to follow at Lake City Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 5:00 PM, Friday, May 28, 2021 at the church prior to the services.
