Obituary

Virginia Anne Turner Lyons, 91, of Lake City, passed away on February 8, 2026, at The Florence Presbyterian Community.

Mrs. Lyons was born on July 17, 1934, in Lake City, daughter of the late Edward L. Turner and Ethel Pauline Brockington Turner Prosser. Mrs. Virginia Anne Lyons worked with the Federal Bureau of Investigation for eight years and was later employed with Baxter Laboratories. She was the owner and operator of Little Town Children’s Boutique in Lake City and Tot-Teen Boutique in Florence for twenty-eight years. In more recent years, she worked part-time at Carolinian Retirement Home until her health declined. Mrs. Lyons was a faithful member of Lake City Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder, deacon, member of the J.D. Whitehead Sunday School Class, and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Society of Former F.B.I. Women, a past member of the Indiantown Square Dance Club, and a Ladies Auxiliary volunteer member of Carolinas Hospital. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.

Surviving are her daughter, Diane (Ray) Yates; grandchildren, April Proctor (Ryan) Stone and Houston Hamilton; two stepchildren, Anna Dalton and Michael Lyons; great grandchildren, Alexis Harrelson, Rivers Stone, Houston Grant Hamilton, Stella Elizabeth Hamilton and Althea Dalton; one great-great-granddaughter, Aizleigh Ann Harrelson; sister, Carole Turner Brown; sister-in-law, Janet Turner; her daughters-in-love, Caline Hathcock and Renee Howerton, who held a special place in her heart; along with many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.

Mrs. Lyons was preceded in death by her husband, H.M. “Jim” Lyons; son, Jimmy Dale Hamilton; grandson, William “Bill” Proctor; siblings, Ida Turner Webster, William Edward “Billy” Turner, Hubert Turner,  James Edward “Jimmie” Turner, Ernest L. Turner and Harry Russell Turner.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Lake City Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Lake City Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 301 E. Main Street, Lake City, SC 29560 and Meals on Wheels, Senior Citizens Association, 600 Senior Way, Florence, SC 29505.
