Virginia M. Duncan Obituary

Virginia McCants Duncan of Lake City, SC passed away peacefully in her home in the early hours of morning on February 6, 2024. She was born in Williamsburg County on November 25, 1931, to James Bright and Pearl Alice McCants. She graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1949 and pursued an accounting career at Oneita Knitting Mills in Andrews, SC before meeting her husband, Rev. Dr. Donald Duncan, and devoting her life to being the supportive wife of a pastor in the International Pentecostal Holiness Church. The couple was married on August 19, 1961, and shared two daughters. She was predeceased by her younger daughter, Kelly Rogers, and five brothers, Raymond, Heyward, Charles, James, and JB McCants. She leaves behind her husband, her older daughter, Kimberly Duncan of Pawleys Island, two beloved granddaughters, Madison Altman Turner (Ryan) and Kaela Rogers, as well as a very special niece, Van Raye Ritchie (Kim), and nephews.

Marked by an air of quiet dignity and refinement, Mrs. Duncan was perhaps best known for her creativity. She was a skilled artist, decorated cakes, created magnificent needlework, was the ultimate hostess and gardener without compare. Gardening may have been her greatest passion. She loved nothing more than time tending her flowers, and her lush and beautiful yard earned compliments from everyone. She relished the praise.

As a faithful wife to Rev. Duncan for 62 years, she came to enjoy world travel visiting many nations across the globe. While maintaining a permanent residence in Lake City, they lived for twelve years in Oklahoma City, OK where her husband served as Vice Chairman of the denomination and Director of World Missions.

Family visitation will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at 3:00 pm at Lake City Pentecostal Holiness Church with a memorial service immediately following at 4:00 pm. A private family burial will be held on Friday morning.
