Mrs. Vivian Miles Prosser McAllister, age 91, passed away peacefully in her home in Coward, SC, on the afternoon of Saturday, March 8, 2025, after an extended battle with Alzheimer's.
Born and raised in Coward, SC, Vivian was the beloved daughter of the late Ocie Almond "Shug" Miles and Neva Geddings Miles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ocie Almond Miles, Junior, and her sisters, Gertrude Filyaw, Evelyn Evans, Estelle Matthews, and Novie Jo Braveboy. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Franklin "Bobby" Prosser, and her second husband, Ronald Job McAllister. Additionally, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Avery Shawn Prosser, her son-in-law, Nathan Hall, and her stepson, Jerry McAllister.
Vivian was a faithful servant of the Lord and an early member of Bible Temple, where she was honored to serve as the church’s first pianist and was actively involved in the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a woman of unwavering faith, boundless love, and quiet strength. She was the foundation and the glue that held her family together, always leading with kindness, wisdom, and grace.
Beyond her devotion to her faith and family, Vivian had many passions. She loved baking chocolate cakes for her family, going to the mountains, watching Atlanta Braves baseball, and spending hours talking on the phone with her sister Novie Jo. Thanksgiving was one of her favorite times of the year, when she delighted in cooking big meals for her loved ones. She also found great joy in watching her grandchildren play sports, always their biggest supporter.
In her younger years, Vivian was a talented basketball player at J.C. Lynch High School. She later spent many years working at Skyline and Ayers Manufacturing in Olanta and Coward, where she made lifelong friendships and left a lasting impression on those who worked alongside her.
She is survived by her devoted children, Linda Prosser Forsythe, Elaine Prosser Hall of Coward, Debbie (Steve) Miles of Florence; stepchildren, Terry McAllister of Goldsboro, NC, Wayne McAllister of Hodges, SC; grandchildren, Steven (Anna) Prosser of Nashville, TN, Amy (Greg) Wyatt of Hoschton, GA, Amber (Drew) Huggins of Florence; great-grandchildren:Alicia Prosser, Michael Prosser, Chelsea (Harvey) Prosser of Lake City, Spencer Wyatt, Mary Lyndsey Wyatt of Hoschton, GA, Anna Kate Huggins, Sellers Huggins of Florence, SC; and her great-great-grandchildren, Jordyn Prosser, Colson Bryant, Anistyn Branham and Ava Prosser of Lake City; she is also survived by one sister, Martha Ann Gause of Goose Creek, SC.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Bible Temple in Coward, SC, with burial to follow at The Garden of Rest Cemetery at Bible Temple.
The family will receive friends from 1:00–3:00 PM, Wednesday, at Bible Temple, prior to the service.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Sandy Rauch, Vivian’s devoted caregiver for the last three years. Sandy’s love, compassion, and dedication provided comfort not only to Vivian but also to her family during this difficult journey. Knowing that she was surrounded by warmth and support brought peace to our hearts. Sandy, your kindness and unwavering care will never be forgotten. We are forever grateful for the role you played in her journey.
Vivian’s love, faith, and devotion to her family will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew her. She was a matriarch, a nurturer, and a guiding light whose warmth and presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
