Mr. Wavel Lowell Elam, 76, husband of Claudia Boyd Elam, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2024, at McLeod Hospice House.
Mr. Elam was born on July 11, 1948, in Grayson, Kentucky, son of the late Wavel Pilgrim Elam and Jenny Marie Clemens Elam. He was a graduate of Mt. Sterling High School, Mt Sterling, Ohio. Mr. Elam was a Veteran of the US Marines, having served in the Vietnam War. He also was a Golden Glove Boxer while in service. Mr. Elam was a retired mechanic with Rockwell International that later became Meritor International. He enjoyed fishing but his favorite past time was going to the Waffle House with his granddaughters.
Surviving are his wife, Claudia Boyd Elam of Lake City; daughter, Honey M. Elam; son, Brian K. Elam; granddaughters, Isabel Elam and Gabrielle Elam; sisters, Pauline (Bobby) Vanhoose and Janice (John) Pauli; brother, Steve Elam.
Mr. Elam was preceded in death by his brother, Scotty Elam.
