Mr. William “Bill” Cooper Bridgeman, 68, of Lake City, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025, at his residence.
Mr. Bridgeman was born on May 2, 1956, in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, son of Betty Leach Bridgeman and the late Bobby Ray Bridgeman. He attended Lake City United Methodist Church. Mr. Bridgeman dedicated his life to shaping young minds as a retired coach and educator for an impressive 43 years. His commitment to education touched countless students’ lives, both in Lake City and Columbia, where he shared his knowledge and passion. He was a graduate of West Florence High School in 1974 before continuing his studies at Francis Marion College, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree.
Surviving are his mother, Betty L. Bridgeman of Lake City; aunt, Patricia Hanna of Lake City; niece, Cameron (John) Capotosti of Florence; nephew, Campbell Bridgeman of Florence; sister-in-law, Martha Bridgeman of Florence; cousins, Jimmy (Ann) Hanna of Lake City, Ken (Elaine) Sargent and Doug (Cheryl) Sargent, both of Florida; along with other extended family members.
Mr. Bridgeman was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby Ray Bridgeman, Jr. and Scott Bridgeman; aunt, Althea Sargent; uncle, Kenneth Leach.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Lake City United Methodist Church, with the family receiving friends following the service in the sanctuary.
