Mr. William Hardy Cooper, 89, husband of Caroline S. Cooper, passed away, Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at his home in Pamplico.
Mr. Cooper was born on August 21, 1935, in Florence County, son of the late Clinton Cooper and Ollie Zelphia Jones Cooper. He was a faithful member of New Prospect Free Will Baptist Church for 46 years. During those years, he lovingly drove the Sunday School bus and, with a servant’s heart, would visit the children the evening before to make sure they were ready and in need of a ride to church. He was also a retired supervisor with Davey Tree, where he dedicated 31 years of service. On October 10, 1958, in Greenville, he married the love of his life, Caroline Saltz Cooper, and together they shared 66 wonderful years of marriage. He was an avid race and sports fan, and an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, cutting grass, and woodworking.
Surviving are his wife, Caroline S. Cooper of Pamplico; children, Alan Cooper, Alaine Truett, Beverly (Robert) Springs, and special nephew, Clint Miles; grandchildren, Jeffery (Bridget) McCutcheon, Dee (Joe) Iaquinto, Jason (Danielle) McCutcheon, Jenny (Glenn) Campbell and Rebecca Doar; great grandchildren, Harleigh McCutcheon, Morgan McDaniel, Rhett McCutcheon, Madison McCutcheon, Abby McCutcheon, Cameron McCutcheon, Kensleigh Elmore, Ryleigh Doar, Reagan Doar and Madilyn Campbell; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David Truett; siblings, Lloyd Cooper, Ethelene Tanner, Maybelle Miles, Shelby Lewis, Earl Cooper, and Zelphia Ann Roberson.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Adriane McKeithan and Latoya McKenzie with Pruitt Hospice for the exceptional care, compassion, and support they provided. Their kindness, dedication, and comforting presence brought peace and comfort during a very difficult time, and their service will always be remembered with deep gratitude.
Funeral services will be 4:00 PM, Thursday, August 21, 2025, New Prospect Free Will Baptist Church, 4221 Sheminally Road, Pamplico, SC, with burial to follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the church.
