Obituary

Mr. William Riley “Bill” Eaddy, 78, of Hemingway, husband of Nina Coleman Eaddy, passed away Friday, January 31, 2025, at Duke University Hospital, North Carolina.

Mr. Eaddy was born on January 12, 1947, in Florence County, son of the late William Chalmers Eaddy and Dorothy Hanna Eaddy.  He was a graduate of Johnsonville High School and the University of South Carolina. A man of faith and community, he found solace and joy in his connections to both Vox United Methodist and Westside Free Will Baptist Churches, where he shared his musical talents through guitar playing, singing and enjoyed the fellowship of his fellow church members. His love for the water and boating, whether cruising on the ICW or Black River, was only rivaled by his passion for sports, particularly as an avid Gamecock fan and a NASCAR enthusiast. He also enjoyed the simple pleasure of a well-maintained lawn. A dedicated public servant, he held the position of Area Director with the South Carolina Employment Security Commission, serving in both Florence and Charleston.

Surviving are his wife, Nina Coleman Eaddy of Hemingway; daughter, Stephanie Eaddy (Marshall) Hogan of Charleston; granddaughter, Bailey Ranee Hogan of Mount Pleasant; sister, Virginia Eaddy (Mac) Weatherford of Lake City; his fur baby, Frisky; extended family members and lifelong friend, Larry Parker of Columbia.

The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to The Palms of Florence, “The Girls” and the Therapy Staff for their compassionate care provided to our family during this time.
