Wyatt "Clay" Nettles, Jr.

Wyatt “Clay” Nettles, Jr., 64, of Scranton, husband of the late Elizabeth “Litz” Sebnick Nettles, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at McLeod Hospice House.

Mr. Nettles was born on December 7, 1960, in Florence County, son of Virginia “Ginny” Carter Nettles and the late Wyatt Clay Nettles, Sr.

Mr. Nettles was a faithful member of Grace and Glory Ministries. Logging was not just a career for him but a calling, and he proudly owned and operated Cam Branch Timber, Inc. He began working at a young age—first at Carter Manufacturing, then driving shipping vans at just 18—before building his own successful logging business. He also devoted time as a volunteer with the Lake City Fire Department.

He was an outdoorsman at heart, happiest when hunting, fishing, or golfing. He cherished time RV’ing to motocross races with his children and was known for his tireless work ethic and love for his family.  

Surviving are his son, Wyatt Clay “Trey” Nettles III and his wife, Laney; daughter, Elizabeth “Liza” Nettles Howell and her husband, Zachary “Ryan”; grandsons, Camden Nettles and Cohen Howell; and granddaughter, Grace Howell. He is also survived by his uncles, Wade Nettles and Warren (Ren) Carter, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved him dearly.

Mr. Nettles was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Nanette “Nan” Nettles; father-in-law, Bill Sebnick; mother-in-law, Peg Sebnick.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Carolina Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 PM at Lake City Memorial Park, with Reverend Jerry Fennell officiating.
